The catch 22 being the need of some PCs being there with a bit of experience to help. I know i usually found a lot of NPC 'help' annoying[in other games], and it would ease the burden on you eric and clayton.

ok we won't show up then twinkie eater lol :P

I agree its for Denver players but it is easier to recruit new players if you have a larger player base there to help and so that new players see that " Hey peopel come from MN, SD and IA to play this game way out in Denver..wow this game must be good.

I think Curt was just trying to make sure that people understand that this game would be like SIS Omaha, and that if you wanted to make the trip your more than welcome. I agree with Tommy that having a starting player base would be a considerable help in drawing in support. It would be difficult to run a game with less then 6 players, which right now is the total number of players we could have drawing from just the Denver area after you take out the G.O. staff for running the game. We do want to grow the player base which would requires being able to provide a rewarding game that involves the players in the game in a way that makes them feel invested, entertained, and satisfied. Having experienced players helps us accomplish that without limiting how much we can do too greatly.

Thank you to everyone willing to commit their time and effort to helping us grow our player base.

P.S. Curt shut up. ;)

Overall, this is exactly what it will take to bring cons back to Denver (and probably anywhere for that matter). Kudos. So, what's your marketing plan? What will you tell people to get them interested? What attracted you and anyone you know to the game? How do you plan to contact them (email, word of mouth, ad in the con flyer, soliciting them in the con hall, etc.)? If they play the game, how will you connect them to the rest of SIS (I'm assuming this won't just be an off-hand comment about the "real" game)? If they seem interested but don't have time, how do you plan to follow up with them? If the game is about a great role-play experience and making new friends, how can you capture their feedback as to whether they felt that?

These are just some thoughts to help you organize your approach. Don't expect you to necessarily post your answers.
Best of luck!

Thanks Matt,

That is all very sound advise, we will look into all of this to make sure if and when it happens they get all of these possibilities.

Curt, awesome idea, advertising, advertising, advertising.... Start locally, about 6 months out, game stores, go from there. Grab our conversation notes. I would for sure mention that the official events are a "living game".

just a quick side thought.

why don't we have posters up in SF and IA for SIS, not only at the con but at gaming stores to get people to come to mage.

Can we get someone in the area to post these flyers?

I remember when it was WYRD images in my early days, there were posters ALL over the con. I am sure we could get someone to post them around...just need to print up a quick flyer and put the dates website...and plaster the town.
